How to use Unit Converter

  1. Pick what you are measuring, such as length, weight or area.
  2. Type a number in either box and choose the units. Both boxes work, so you can convert in either direction.
  3. Check the table underneath to see the same value in every unit. Click a row to make it the target unit.

About this tool

The converter covers eleven kinds of measurement, from everyday ones like length, weight and temperature to data sizes, energy, pressure and fuel economy.

It includes units common in South Asia: marla and kanal for land (1 kanal = 20 marla), and tola and maund for weight. A marla is taken as 272.25 square feet, the standard used by most housing authorities. Some areas use 225 or 250 square feet, so check the local measure for property deals.

For data sizes, kilobyte (kB) means 1,000 bytes and kibibyte (KiB) means 1,024 bytes. That is why a "1 TB" drive shows up as about 931 GB on a computer.

Temperature and fuel economy are not simple multiplications, so they are converted with their proper formulas. For example, °F = °C × 9/5 + 32, and litres per 100 km is 100 divided by km per litre.

Questions and answers

How many square feet are in a marla?

Usually 272.25 sq ft (about 25.3 m²). Some older schemes use 225 sq ft. A kanal is 20 marla.

How do I convert Celsius to Fahrenheit?

Multiply by 9/5 and add 32. So 30 °C is 30 × 1.8 + 32 = 86 °F.

Why does my 1 TB drive show 931 GB?

Drive makers use 1 TB = 10¹² bytes, while many computers count in binary units (GiB). 10¹² bytes is about 931 GiB.

How precise are the results?

Conversions use the exact defined factors. Choose how many decimals to show with the Decimals menu.
