How to use QR Code Generator
- Choose what the code should contain: a link, text, Wi-Fi details, a contact, an email, an SMS or a phone number.
- Fill in the details. The QR code updates as you type.
- Pick colours, dot shape and error correction, then download a PNG or SVG and test it with your phone camera.
About this tool
The QR code is generated in your browser and contains your content directly. There is no redirect link in between, so the code never expires, cannot be switched off, and nobody tracks who scans it.
Wi-Fi codes let guests join your network by pointing their camera at the code, without typing the password. Contact codes use the vCard format, so scanning adds you straight to the phone's contacts.
Error correction stores extra data so the code still scans when it is partly dirty, scratched or covered. Higher levels survive more damage but make the code denser. Medium suits screens; use Quartile or High for printed codes that may get worn.
For printing, download the SVG: it is a vector file that stays sharp at any size. Keep dark dots on a light background with good contrast, and leave the quiet border around the code, because scanners need it to find the edges.
Questions and answers
Do these QR codes expire?
No. The content is stored in the code itself, not behind a link we control, so it works forever.
Can I change a QR code after printing it?
No, the content is fixed. If you need to change the destination later, point the code at a page on your own website that you can update.
Why will my QR code not scan?
The usual causes are low contrast, light dots on a dark background, a missing border, or printing too small. Keep codes at least 2 × 2 cm, and larger for long content.
Is my Wi-Fi password sent anywhere?
No. The code is generated on your device. Remember that anyone who scans the code can read the password.
