How to use JSON Viewer

  1. Paste JSON into the editor, drop a .json file on it, or load it from a URL.
  2. Switch to Tree to explore. Click any node to see its path and value, and use the search box to find keys or values.
  3. Use Format, Minify or Sort keys to clean it up, then copy or download the result.

About this tool

JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) is the standard format for APIs, configuration files and data exports. Large responses are hard to read as one long line, so this viewer turns them into a collapsible tree that shows the type of every value and how many items each object or array holds.

If the JSON is invalid, the validator points to the exact line and column of the problem and selects it in the editor. Common causes are trailing commas, single quotes instead of double quotes, and missing brackets.

Click any node in the tree to get its JSON path (for example $.users[2].address.city), which you can paste straight into code, JSONPath queries or test assertions. Everything runs locally, so API keys and customer data you paste are never uploaded.

Questions and answers

Is my JSON sent to a server?

No. Parsing, formatting and the tree view all run in your browser. Loading from a URL fetches that URL directly from your browser.

Why does loading from a URL fail for some sites?

Browsers only allow pages to read data from other sites that permit it (CORS). If a site does not, open the URL in a new tab, copy the JSON and paste it here.

How big a file can it handle?

Files of several megabytes work smoothly because tree branches are only drawn when you open them. Very large files (100 MB+) depend on your device memory.

What does Sort keys do?

It re-orders the keys of every object alphabetically, at every level. That makes two JSON documents much easier to compare.

Does it support comments or trailing commas?

Standard JSON does not allow them, so the validator reports them as errors and shows where they are, so you can remove them.
